Ernst Oppler Description
Ernst Oppler (1867-1929) was a German Impressionist painter and etcher. He was born in Hanover to German-Jewish architect Edward Hoppler and studied at the Academy of Arts in Munich. After that, he moved to London to study the artwork of James Abbott McNeill Whistler, who inspired him throughout his career.
Oppler's early work was naturalistic, but later on he developed a more impressionistic style. He was accepted into the International Society of Sculptors, Painters and Gravers in 1898.
