Paris was the center of the art world in the early 20th century, when American art collector Gertrude Stein would throw Saturday night gatherings for friends like Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso in her living room-turned-gallery. For two weekends in October, the Matthews Gallery will revive the crackling energy of a Parisian art salon right here in 21st century Santa Fe at SALON 669. Visitors will have the chance to lounge in a re-creation of a Parisian sitting room, discuss new and exciting ideas in art, and see exhibitions featuring modern masters including Picasso, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Paul Gauguin. Viva la vie en rose!
