In 1925 Norman Laliberté was born in Massachusetts. His French-Canadian family moved to Montreal, where he grew up. He returned to the US and finished his education at the prestigious Illinois Institute of Technology.
Laliberte was selected to be the design consultant for the Vatican Pavilion at the New York World's Fair of 1964, this garnered worldwide recognition. He is also well known for the 18 historical wall panels installed at the International Terminal at Logan Airport in Boston.
He works in many mediums and has also written numerous books on contemporary art.
