Edmund Kinzinger’s family were minor German aristocracy. He studied in Paris with Léger and Matisse. He explored his modernist approach through painting, sculpture, works on paper, and printmaking. 

 

In 1931-1932, Kinzinger taught at Hans Hofmann's School of Art in Munich, he then left Germany for the US. He was the Chair of the Baylor University Art Department, in Waco, Texas, from 1936-1953.
