When the painting was found with an estate in Santa Fe, affixed to the back of the painting was a piece of parchment (see last image above) which reads in French, "Baptiste Monnoyer, painted 1659" and it has an inventory number. This parchment has been retained after cleaning and conservation of the canvas.
