Helen Greene Blumenschein (1909-1989) lived in both New York City and Taos, moving to Taos at the age of ten in 1919. Interested in art from a young age Blumenschein graduated from the Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn and then travelled to Europe where she studied with Andre Lhote. After returning to Taos from Europe she focued on lithography and silk screening, studying at the Art Students League from 1932-1934.

Her work has been exhibited internationally and nationally at the National Academy of Design, Carnegie Institute, Paris Salon, New York World Fair, and Venice, Italy among others.
