Roberta A. Wightman was a prominent painter and landscape architect, and sixty-six year resident of Seattle, Washington. An only child, she was born in Chicago to Doctors Grace S. and Hugo William Wightman in l912, and lived to the age of 98.


Never married, she was a student of Emil Bisttram in Taos, New Mexico in the early 1930s, where she associated with the top Modernists of the time. Her career advanced in the Pacific Northwest where she gained significant prominence.
